Someone else's recipe sums up their decisions: their water, their grinder, their machine and their coffee, which isn't at the same point as yours.
We use it anyway, as a starting point. What gets copied is the numbers. The numbers are the end of a process that happened in another kitchen.
We try it once. Then we adjust it with what appears in the cup.
