The grinder number
The number on the grinder isn't a measurement. In a burr grinder, what you adjust is the distance between the two discs. That depends on which burrs they are and how worn they are. Our 15 and the 15 at your house grind differently.
The measurement is in the cup: if it runs fast and tastes weak, it's coarse; if it struggles to pass and tastes harsh, it's fine. The number lets you return to somewhere you've already been, on your own grinder.
